DC - The Chinese Embassy

Day Three was the date of the reason for our visit to DC this trip. We were invited to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China for a celebration of the Lunar New Year for families who had adopted a child from China in 2006. The event was hosted by Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of to the United States Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong and his wife. We were honored to be invited. Jack had a fantastic time. There was cultural program then some great food and a crafts section for the kids. Jack played some games, did calligraphy, made some origami, and played with maps.

DC - Tara Riordan at Eastern Market

On Day Three we had breakfast at Eastern Market with our good friend Tara Riordan. She gave Jack a cool toy - thanks! We all had a fun visit and went shopping at the Market. Oh - Brian - we thought of you...

DC - The Malls

Day Two - the malls. Yes, there are two types of malls in DC. There is THE Mall - between the Capitol and Arlington Cemetary and there is Pentagon City Mall - where you shop. I am not shere which one Kat likes more... Here are Jack and his Mom maping out the stores to hit in Pentagon City Mall and a few shots on THE Mall.

DC - Smithsonian - Natural History and Asian Art

On Day Two, we did a lot. Here we are at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History - Jack's second visit, but the first with his Mom. This is a special place for Jack's Mom as she went there with her Mom when they lived in the area. We also went to the Freer Gallery and Sackler Gallery - the Smithsonian National Museums of Asian Art. This was, yet again, another first for us. Wonderful art.

DC - Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian Air & Space Museum

On Day Two we did another first for us, we went to the Udar-Hazy Center - the new Smithsonian Air and Space Museum out near Dulles Airport. All we could say was - wow. Such neat planes and rocket ships - Jack was just in heaven. We were joined by John Taylor and the Kramers - Chris, Scott, Tom-Tom and Eli.

DC - Intl. Spy Museum & Dinner

Also on Day One, we went to the International Spy Museum. We had never been - it was pretty cool. It is amazing to see all the real James Bond style items that were really used by spies. As you can tell by the way Jack is bundled up, it was a cold, rainy, snow day. We just decided to have fun and make an adventure of it. Jack was very amused when an umbrella we had was blown to pieces. We also had dinner at the Pentagon Row complex at Ristorante Murali with our good friend John Taylor, his girlfriend Elena, and our new friends Tanya and Terry. Cheers!

DC - National Geographic Explorers Hall

Jack made his second Visit to DC in March 2007. We cam up for an event at the Chinese Embassy but had two extra days to sightsee. One Day One, we took Jack to the National Georgraphic Explorers Hall. It is free admission and very neat learning games for kids. Jack had so much fun. We played computer games - learning about maps. We built maps, drew maps and all types of stuff. We learned about weather maps. It was a great place.

Assn. Chinese Professional - Chinese New Year Celebration

Jack was invited, by our good friend Jiannan Xiang, the President of the Association of Chinese Professionals in Atlanta, (www.acp-atlanta.org) to attend the 7th Annual Spring in Atlanta Chinese New Year Celebration at the Atlanta Symphony Hall. It was a fantastic program and a very generous gesture by Jiannan - we thank you very much!

AYSA Falcons Spring 2007

Here are some action shots - OK, not really action shots, but shots - of Jack at the first game of the Spring 2007 AYSA soccer season. WE always appreciate Bill, Meredith, Aunt Jennifer and Grandma and Grandpa Breedlove for attending the games.

Rep. Brian Kelsey

Our friend, Brian Kelsey, a State Representative from Memphis, Tennessee, was in Atlanta. Kat, Jack and I had breakfast with me at our Waffle House. Brian, when you are Governor of Tennessee, remember - Jack knew you when...
